Description
A Traineeship is a course that includes a work placement – It can last from 6 weeks up to 6 months.
A Traineeship isn’t a job – It is an educational course that takes place in a workplace.
It is for young people – Anyone aged 16 to 24 year olds (or 25 year olds with an education, health and care plan) can apply.
Traineeships prepare you for work – Traineeships are perfect for getting an individual ready for an Apprenticeship or job if they don’t have the appropriate skills or experience.
A guaranteed interview – At the end of a Traineeship the Trainee is guaranteed an interview for an Apprenticeship or job if available, or an exit interview with written feedback
Funded by the Government – There is no cost to businesses, with full funding coming from the Government.
Traineeships are flexible – Traineeship programmes can be tailored to meet your needs or those of the business and local labour market.
Traineeships are unpaid – Employers are not required to pay you for the work placement however you may get expenses for transport and meals from your employer
Traineeships benefit everyone – Having a Trainee within a business allows for current employees to experience training and mentoring
There are lots of Traineeships – Traineeship vacancies can be found by going to www.gov.uk/find-traineeship, asking a local college or Qube Learning, by speaking to a school careers advisor or by speaking to an adviser at your Jobcentre Plus
